Last week I went to the Kendra Scott store opening in Plaza Frontenac. I’d never been to one of her stores — only seen her things advertised in magazines. And to be honest, I didn’t think the jewelry was my style, so never bothered to look further. However, after visiting the store, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not a jewelry brand where I’m dying to buy one of everything (ala Jennifer Meyer), but it did have a few pieces that I really liked (see my favorites below). The coolest part about the whole store was the Color Bar. It’s basically a giant touch screen that lets you customize jewelry – kind of like a Chipotle for gems. You choose your silhouette (necklace, earring, etc.), metal and stone color. Then, voila: a worker custom makes your jewelry right then and there. Not every piece you see in the store is customize-able via the Color Bar, but many are. It’s pretty cool. And the brand has a philanthropic bent to it- they donate portion of proceeds to charity and will also host your organization in a “shop for a cause” type fundraiser – so you bring the people, they make the party, and a portion of sales during the fete go to your charity of choice. Added bonus, sign up for their insider list and get 50% off a piece of jewelry during your birthday month… so basically, I’ll be back in March.

I never heard about this store and will share the post with my friends.
