my puffy shirt

Ruffles seem to be the clothing detail of the summer and are popping back up on runways for Fall. Sometimes ruffles are too sweet for me-  wearing them makes me feel like I’m being engulfed by waves, but I thought this top was ruffled without being ridiculous and didn’t look like I was taking a cue from Seinfeld.  I wanted to share because a) this top is now on sale and b) has all sizes still in stock. Also, this white jean is perfect for summer (it’s high rise, slightly cropped and with a wide leg). I sized down because they run big, just FYI.

Fashion as art

We were invited to a wedding in Chicago last month and used it as an excuse for a getaway sans kids. What a treat. The weather was fabulous and we explored parts of the city that I hadn’t seen in years. Joe grew up in Chicago, so seems every time we go to “Chicago” we spend the time in the suburb where he grew up. While the suburbs are pretty in their own right, there’s nothing like a weekend downtown. Below are pictures from the wedding that was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art downtown. What a setting to say “I do.” The ceremony took place on the back patio overlooking the sculpture garden, cocktails on yet another patio, then dinner and dancing in the main exhibit hall. An added bonus… guests could explore the galleries between courses. I’ll drink to that!

Move over maxi skirts…

Last year I was all about long skirts to stay cool and look cool. But this year those skirts feel so…. well, LY. They’ve been replaced in my closet by wide leg pants. Equally comfy, equally stylish, and you don’t have to worry about sitting like a lady! Style with a tank and then a long sleeve tee as we transition into fall. Mine are from Anthropologie, but sold out. I’ve shopped around and found some others I like that are still in stock. See below.
