Eco Art

If you live in St. Louis (which most of you do), you have until Sunday to check out Green Varnish at the Contemporary Art Museum. It’s the installation comprised of thousands of succulents taking over the museum’s center courtyard. The work was created by New York-based Nomad Studio, a group known for combining art and design with ecological elements. For this exhibit, they collaborated with local artisans to build the wooden structure and then cover it with these tiny plants. Part of the art, I’d imagine, is seeing how the plants changed over the course of their tenure in the space (the exhibit opened May 23). Personally, I thought the plants were looking a little brown in spots but I’m not really one to talk because my yard is about as big and I can’t keep it green either.
